We are holding various Poojas as part of our efforts to restore the divinity and spiritual power in the temple. Devotees can do these Poojas for the well being of themselves and their family.

History

Vilayil is said to be one of the many temples that was destroyed during the invasion of Kerala by Tipu Sultan between 1766-1790. Kerala also is said to have lost immense heritage during the Tipu attacks, some sources putting the figure in thousands. The temple land and properties were said to be lost during the 1921 Mapillah riots.

The names of the places in and around the temple, reveal the existence of a grand temple in the locality. Currently the temple is being restored by local community with very little resource but a lot of commitment and physical labor.

As per beliefs once Lord Shiva was suffering the burden of  Brahma Hatya. Goddess Parvati relieved Him of Brahma Hatya by feeding him at Vilayil.  Lord Parasurama himself  consecrated this temple as part of the 18 Sakthi Peethas in Kerala.
